Would you return to Africa as a professional after living abroad ?
Many Africans dream of the day they would return back ‘home’ after living in a distant land for years struggling to make a living it gets to a point when one has to make that leap of faith, but why are so many Africans delaying their return.
The answer is easy the environment at home is just not conducive to it as we are afraid of leaving our corporate jobs to go home and compete for uncertainty. Do you blame the guy making $30,000 living paycheck to paycheck to make ends meet risking financial stability as he is afraid of what life would be in Africa if he returned without a degree and the right connections.The insecurity scares us.
With that said shall we wait for the millions of people at home toiling to make a better ‘home’ for us? or should we be in the forefront to lead the change. JFK said “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country” with that said my friends maybe we should be the change we want to see. If we want a better Tanzania, a better Malawi, a better Zimbabwe or a better Kenya perhaps we should start the migration and when one turns to two,two to fifty and eventually to millions we can say those 3 sweet words. Home sweet home
